Paris
Hello, my name is Audrey Sorelle NZESSI NANGUENG. I’m from the Democratic Republic of Congo and I am currently a first-year student in the Bachelor in Marketing & Advertising at ISCOM.
Can you tell us about your campus and your program?
I’m studying a Bachelor in Marketing & Advertising at ISCOM, a three-year program. What I really like here is how hands-on it is. Compared to my previous studies, which were mostly theoretical, ISCOM quickly puts us into real-life situations with projects, presentations, and professional immersion weeks. It really prepares us for the working world.
How was your integration into the school?
My integration went quite well. From day one, other students were very welcoming. Even though I was a bit shy at first, I could feel the positive atmosphere. With the teachers, it was a bit more challenging at the beginning, especially because of the teaching style using PowerPoint presentations, which I wasn’t used to. But I adapted over time, and now everything is going well.
I started the academic year a bit late due to administrative procedures in my home country before coming to France. I missed almost a month, but I managed to catch up on everything—assignments, continuous assessments… Now I’m fully up to date.
Were you able to join any groups or networks to connect with other students?
Yes, there’s a student community on Snapchat that I joined, which helped me connect with many classmates. A member of ISCOM’s international team, Elena, also introduced me to an app designed for international students, making it easier to meet people and exchange with others.
Did you face any other challenges when you arrived?
Yes, mainly with transportation. At first, it was difficult to find my way around—understanding maps, using apps, figuring out how to get to school… I was late a few times in the beginning, but things quickly improved.
Did the school provide any tools or resources to help you integrate?
Before arriving, I had access to the My French Degree WelcomeDesk platform, and I also received a very helpful guide from ISCOM, written by former international students. It covers all the key steps and offers practical advice for settling in.
What advice would you give to international students who want to study at ISCOM?
I would recommend planning your administrative steps in advance, especially with Campus France. As for the school, ISCOM is a great opportunity because of its practical approach. You gain real, hands-on skills from the first year, which gives you a strong advantage compared to more theoretical programs.
If you had to describe ISCOM in a few words?
The communication school… the place to be!
