Hello, my name is Laura Pabon and I am originally from Colombia. In Colombia, I studied communication and journalism. I have always been passionate about communication.
I had already done an international exchange in the United States, so I spoke English and Spanish, my native language. I decided to continue my studies in another country to learn a new language, as it is important nowadays to speak several languages.
I chose France to learn French, one of the most important and widely spoken languages in the world. I had also heard that the education system in France is of a very high standard.
And how did your arrival in France go?
In Colombia, I took 10 months of French courses to reach an A2 level, which allowed me to acquire the basics. Once in France, I continued learning French at Paul-Valéry University in Montpellier. I obtained a foreign languages diploma, which helped me strengthen my French level, necessary for my studies in communication.
Why did you choose to specialize in digital marketing?
I discovered Ipac Bachelor Factory, which is part of the EDUSERVICES group, where I completed a Bachelor in tourism with a specialization in Digital Marketing. I found a work-study position in two hotels, in Montpellier and Avignon, where I held a role in digital marketing. This experience was an excellent introduction to the field of communication and marketing.
Tell us about your current program and your experience at MyDigitalSchool Montpellier.
Currently, I am enrolled in the MBA Expert in Digital Marketing at MyDigitalSchool Montpellier. I chose this program because it focuses on digital marketing and content creation.
The quality of the program is excellent, with professors who are active professionals in their field. This allows us to learn the professions and understand current market trends.
How did you find your integration in Montpellier as an international student?
The first two years were difficult due to the cultural change and the language. However, Montpellier is a very safe, beautiful, and lively city, especially for students.
Now, I feel well integrated thanks to the schools I attended and the many people I have met.
What advice would you give to international students who want to study in France?
It is crucial to start the process early and to show discipline and perseverance. It can be difficult to find a work-study position, especially in communication and marketing, which require a good level of French. But you should not give up.
Using artificial intelligence to correct your mistakes can also be an advantage. I also recommend looking for opportunities in international companies, which value diverse language skills.
