Introduction of Yiming
Hello, my name is Yiming WANG, I am 25 years old. I am originally from China. After obtaining the GAOKAO, I earned a Bachelor’s degree in French language and literature at the Jilin University of Foreign Languages in China. I started learning French in China. I have always dreamed of coming to France to study.
At first, I was afraid because French is not my native language, and I was worried about not being able to adapt in France. I was going on an adventure far from my family and friends. My arrival in France went well. My mother traveled with me to France, which reassured me. I was stressed on the first day of school because I didn’t know anyone, but one of my classmates, who is in the same class and company as me, made my arrival easier.
When I arrived, it was difficult to understand how the school system works in France, it was new for me. There is a difference between university in China and school in France. For example, teachers are accessible and close to students, we do not have textbooks, we need to take notes…
Support from the school
The school gave me access to a website that offered accommodation. The website is easy to understand and the procedures are simple. Everything was done online from China. I easily found my accommodation. My apartment is close to the school (about 15 minutes) and the price was reasonable.
For my job search, I did not need to send applications. I received an offer from the school that matched my profile and I was able to start working as soon as I arrived. I am very satisfied with the process. I work at Cercle de l’Union in Lyon (hospitality, catering, meeting rooms), and everything is going well so far.
Why did you choose hospitality, and what are your plans?
I will continue my studies in France to obtain a Master’s degree (MBA Tourism-Hospitality). I enjoy traveling. I want to work in the hospitality sector. I like being in contact with clients. I would like to work in a large hotel in China after my studies and welcome an international clientele
What do you think about Tunon?
I like my school. The buildings are new. There is a good atmosphere. The teachers and my classmates are kind. Everyone makes an effort to speak slowly so that I can understand. Sometimes the classes are difficult, I feel stressed, but I do not regret choosing this school.
